Weston Junior Ranger Program

Welcome to the Weston Junior Ranger Program, which helps kids and families get to know the beautiful wild places — called conservation lands — in Weston. With over 2,000 acres of conservation and nearly 100 miles of trails, Weston has a lot of wild places to explore!

Who are the Weston Junior Rangers?

Weston Junior Rangers are kids who love to explore, learn about, and care for nature. Kids who participate in the Junior Ranger Program complete a series of activities in the Weston Junior Ranger notebook. When the notebook is complete, they take the Junior Ranger pledge and earn a pin and certificate, making them official Weston Junior Rangers. The Junior Ranger notebook is geared towards 5–12 years old, but anyone is welcome to participate.

Sounds great, I’m in! How do I get a Weston Junior Ranger notebook?

If you would like a printed copy, you can pick one up in the Conservation Commission’s office in Weston Town Hall, where you can also buy our paper map. Just ask for one at the front desk.

If you would like to print your own, you can get one right here. There are two ways to print it:

1. For a booklet, print this version using these print specifications:

  • regular letter-sized paper (8.5” x 11”)

  • two-sided

  • flip on the short edge

  • portrait orientation

  • full-size

  • full-color

You will end up with 6 pieces of paper, each with 4 pages of the notebook (2 on each side). Keep the 6 pieces of paper in the order that they came out of the printer and fold them in half – voila, you’ll have a handy little booklet that is perfect for carrying around on the trails.

2. For full-size pages, print this version using these print specifications:

  • regular letter-sized paper (8.5” x 11”)

  • two-sided

  • flip on the long edge

  • portrait orientation

  • fit to page

  • full-color

You will end up with 12 pieces of paper, each with 2 pages of the notebook (1 on each side). Staple them together, clip them on a clipboard, or put them in a binder — whatever you find easiest for carrying around on the trails.

Please note that the notebook is best when printed in full color.

What should I do when I complete my notebook?

When you have completed your Junior Ranger Notebook and taken the Junior Ranger pledge, snap a photo of the pledge page at the end of the notebook and send it to westonjuniorrangers@gmail.com. We will send you your Junior Ranger certificate and pin in the mail.
